Amherst Massachusetts Survey For Reparations

 An anonymous survey is being conducted in Amherst to gather residents' views on race and reparations, marking the first time the African Heritage Reparation Assembly is seeking input from a large cross-section of the community to develop specific recommendations on how to address past racial injustices in the town.

The survey, which takes less than 10 minutes to complete, is part of the assembly's efforts to develop reparation proposals for people of African heritage in Amherst by the 2020 resolution "Affirming the Town of Amherst's Commitment to End Structural Racism and Achieve Racial Equity for Black Residents."

The survey will help determine how the expected $2 million collected over ten years for reparations initiatives should be spent.

The report is due to the Town Council by the end of June. It will explore whether residents support a dedicated reparations fund, eligibility criteria for reparations, and options such as financial assistance, educational scholarships, or symbolic acts.

Participants tell about their experiences with discrimination or unfair treatment, their views on a successor committee, and a truth and reconciliation process.

Robocop Comes To Life 

New York City has announced that it will use robots for law enforcement, including 400-pound robotic dogs that will patrol Times Square and other areas. The move has raised concerns about using robots in policing, especially after the Dallas Police Department used a robot in 2016 to kill a suspect. 
 
If successful, robot police officers may be adopted by other police departments, including State Police.

The Need For Masculine Black Soldiers

Being around masculine figures can never be overlooked in an age where crimes against black women and children are rising (Becket, Clayton, 2022).


Two is better than one now, more than ever. Tariq Nasheed highlighted a beating by two-three boys against one young black man, which was terrible for the attackers. Unfortunately, we have seen all types of attacks on black children that sometimes don't end well (Phillips, 2023). The divisiveness between black women and black men in the Americas is not needed right now.

One of the more under-rated stories of last year was the arrest of the not fucking around crew (NFAC) leader. 


Black Malitia seems extreme to some people, but protectors are needed in a world going backward socially and with policies (i.e., House Bill 1020, Roe V Wade, black history bans).

California Awards Grants to Ethnic Media Outlets Serving Communities Vulnerable to Hate Crimes

Forty-six ethnic media news organizations in California have been awarded over $5 million in grants by the state to support media outlets serving communities where hate crimes are likely to occur.    The grant program is a collaboration between the California State Library and the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs. Six Black-owned media organizations targeting predominantly Black audiences received grants, including California Black Media, The Black Voice News, L.A. Focus, and The San Francisco Bay View.   Stop the Hate Campaign   The funding will also help raise awareness about the Stop the Hate campaign, which aims to reduce hate crimes and promote intercultural and interracial cooperation and understanding.
