The Jordan Neely Ritual Killing - Connections
The lynching of Jordan Neely speaks volumes about how people experiencing homelessness are viewed and treated in a failing economy in America. When a black man needs help, there is often no one there to back that person up.
As a former ride-share driver, I was harassed , and questioned for resting until the airport runs began at 4:00 am. A flashlight shined on my face while I was not committing any crime in a 24-hour parking lot. I was lying back in my car seat just taking a nap, but I understand some people attempt to rob people, but it is a catch twenty-two.
From a logical, legal perspective, there should be due process:
According to the constitution of the United States (2023), you should not "be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; (para 1).
Nobody can be the executioner, judge, or jury. That is how it should be, but as many black people know, injustice occurs even with the law involved.
The death penalty information center mentions: "Of the 75 innocent death-row defendants who spent 30 years or longer in prison before being exonerated, 67% are Black" (Center, 2022c).
The bombardment of microaggressions, victim shaming, gaslighting, and ignorance of our struggle in a land where the law does not protect us creates anxiety and anger. I want people to understand Jordan Neely was not an isolated event but something black men have had to deal with for a while now.
From discriminatory house evaluations, workplace discrimination, breakdown of the black family, and missing black women/children, there are no shortages of oppression.
Those events can cause the person to be just a little on edge (sarcasm), so let us look at the scope of things and have some empathy. He needed assistance, repair, restitution, and reparations.
Leading Up To The Subway Event

Jordan was going through a series of mental health traumas that caused him to be temperamental looking at the previous footage of him. Jordan's traumas do not justify him breaking an orbital bone of a woman in the subway. Update 5/5/2023 The Twitter post below is not Jordan Neely but Isaiah Thompson, and of course, he was jailed for the incident but not our privilege penny.

However, neither does choking a man to death with other males nearby. Here is an un-sympathetic comment from twitter:
It was only a matter of time before Jordan Neely killed or seriously injured someone. He was arrested 42 times and let go to endanger the public.

The fault belongs on a corrupt DA who’s only priority is getting Trump and not protecting the community.
So going by that logic, if your troubled family was going through a difficult time, would you want them to die at the hands of a random person because they have a rap sheet? Without due process?
People who make these statements have no empathy for others who reach the breaking point, thanks to an inequitable and un-empathic society. When a black person (40% of people experiencing homelessness) has taken so many blows by the community, they reach the breaking point.
